Elections 2024: Don’t downplay the decision of Ghanaians – President of Catholic Bishops Conference warns presidential candidate

President of the Catholic Bishops Conference, Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi has warned both presidential and parliamentary candidates not to downplayed the decision of Ghanaians after the elections.

Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi who is also the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani underscore the importance of safeguarding the democratic process.

Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi disclosed this in a speech delivered on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the Bono Ahafo Catholic Cooperative Society (BACCSOD) at Wenchi in the Bono Region last Friday.

He said the peace pact, which binds all presidential candidates to uphold national unity and conduct their campaigns responsibly is a key efforts to maintain peace in the forthcoming elections.

Haven’t you seen Mahama, Bawumia and other presidential candidates signing the peace pact, this means they the presidential candidates want peace he reitrieted.

Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi further explained that it is the constituents who rather causes mayhem during the election period.

If indeed the constituents want peace why should one snatched ballot box and run away Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi questioned.

He therefore issued a strong warning against all forms of electoral violence ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.President of the Catholic Bishops Conference finally called on the security agencies to deal with anyone who will cause trouble in the election period.

On his part the member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, Hon Alhaji Seidu Haruna urged everyone to refrain from any form of violence, anyone planning to cause trouble should abandoned such intentions immediately.

The MP further urged the youth that if someone incites you to commit violence refuse and tell them to send their children .
