Kyebi, E/R: I haven’t seen policies as good as Bawumia’s’ – Kufuor told Okyehene

Former President Kufour has commended the policies of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, describing them as pivotal for Ghana’s development.

During a visit to the Okyehene at the Ofori Panin Palace at Kyebi in the Eastern Region, Kufuor called on voters to support Dr Bawumia, stating that his vision and strategies are tailored to alleviate hardships and foster progress.

The “Gentle Giant” as he is affectionately called, used the visit to formally convey his commendations for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh to the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II.

During his presidency, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor laid a solid foundation for Ghana, transitioning the nation from a HIPC economy to a lower-middle-income status.

His leadership introduced transformative social interventions such as the NHIS, free maternal healthcare, the capitation grant, and the school feeding program, among others.

This foundation, in line with the NPP’s tradition, has been built upon under President Akufo-Addo, who has also implemented the landmark Free SHS policy and other impactful initiatives.

Former President Kufuor highlighted Dr Bawumia’s approach to inclusive governance, lauding his efforts to address the suffering of Ghanaians:

He reiterated his belief in Dr Bawumia’s leadership capabilities and urged Ghanaians to support the NPP in the 2024 elections.

According to Kufuor, Dr. Bawumia, who served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana at the time, was part of a team of economic experts who helped achieve a remarkable exchange rate of one cedi to one dollar.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin also commended Kufuor for his dedication to Ghana’s development and encouraged Ghanaians to heed the former president’s testimonies about Dr. Bawumia’s capabilities.

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh expressed his delight to President Kufuor for the gesture of formally presenting his ticket to Osagyefo.

He was thankful to the Okyenhene for his blessings, wise counsel, and guidance.

“The spirituality and mystique surrounding this significant exercise are profoundly appreciated and will remain etched in the annals of our political tradition” he said
