Bono East: Address Voter Register discrepancies to ensure smooth electoral process-Chief to EC
The Mo Traditional Council under the leadership of Nana Kwaku Dankwa III has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to address all voter register-related discrepancies and concerns of political parties and the public regarding the voter register as the December 7, election approaches, to ensure smooth electoral process.
Speaking during a visit by the Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as part of his campaign of the Bono East Region, the chief believes this would help to maintain the integrity of the voter register and ensure free and fair polls.
The NDC had alleged discrepancies in certain details and figures collected ahead of the general elections hence, demanding for audit of the voter register and are prepared to pour on the streets to demonstrate.
In a constituency-focused tour in the Kintampo North constituency, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh appealed to stakeholders—chiefs, queen mothers, Zongo leaders, and various identifiable groups from Kunsu to Kintampo township, to place their trust in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by voting for him in large numbers.
In a welcome Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh in Kintampo, Nana Kwaku Dankwa emphasized the importance of resolving the challenges confronting the voter register to restore confidence in the Electoral Commission.
Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh pledged that government will ensure a peaceful election on December 7 to help sustain the developmental gains chalked over the years.
He said the country could only be properly developed in an atmosphere of peace and unity, indicating the strongest need for the citizenry to commit themselves to peace.
The running mate also addressed a rally of stakeholders—chiefs, queen mothers, Zongo leaders, and various identifiable groups in Kintampo.
He emphasized that the NPP has consistently proven itself as a political party that governs with a commitment to cohesion and inclusion, irrespective of religious or other considerations.
According to Napo, after several years of voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), since 1992 but they have not brought any development to the people.
He said with Dr. Bawumia, he assured them, they will have a leader with the conviction to steer Ghana into its next phase of development.
He also urged the constituents to vote for Parliamentary Candidate, Isaac Baffoe.
The Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, bemoaned the fact that the people of Kintampo North have been voting for the NDC since 1992 but has nothing to show in terms of development. He urged them to reject the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections, describing it as a dangerous political party.
