Appoint more women in your government – Banmuhemaa of Wenchi tells JM
The Banmuhemaa of Wenchi Traditional Area, Nana Akosua Twumwaa has urged President elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to appoint more women into his yet to be formed government.
In his congratulatory message to the Ghana’s first female Vice President elect,Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang noted that women are trustworthy, honesty and God fearing.
Nana Akosua Twumwaa added that women could be good leaders when given the opportunity and therefore urged President elect John Dramani Mahama to allow women to showcase their leadership abilities.
The Banmuhemaa further called on President elect John Dramani Mahama to appoint women as Ministers, Deputy Ministers,MMDCEs,Board Members, CEOs among others to reflect gender balance.
Prior to 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections many Ghanaians agitated that Former President, now President elect when given the opportunity to govern this country will cancelled the Free SHS policy implemented by the outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, I will plead with him not to cancel the policy but he should rather continue to help promote quality education, Nana Akosua Twumwaa pleaded.
The Banmuhemaa again cautioned government not to joke with Education and chieftaincy should government wants peace and progress.
Nana Akosua Twumwaa made the call in an interview with Wenchi based Radio West Africa Nana Anfreh Damanata on Thursday January 2,2025 at Wenchi in the Bono Region at her residency.
